| Masculine Philosophy: A Facilitated Discussion | ||
Facilitator Peter le Breton is pursuing a PhD in Transformative Studies. If philosophy is love of knowledge, truth and wisdom, how do men find or create the knowledge we need to live in the modern world? Professional (traditionally male) philosophers are occupied with academic quibbling, whereas feminist philosophy and women's studies are being used for analysis of the problems of our age - most of which have arguably been caused by men. In a world where gender expectations and roles are changing, how are men to be? Is it possible and desirable to be both strong (a traditional man) and sensitive (a 'new age' man) - and what does this ideal mean to you in practice?

| Family Constellation Workshops: Weekend of Reconciliation Work within Self and with Others | ||
Facilitated by Ulrike Danks. The System Constellation process used to facilitate this reconciliation work is a powerful tool to uncover hidden and unconscious dynamics within ourselves and our families. The work dramatically clarifies how these hidden forces impact on us as individuals and our families. It reveals, for example, how old and unresolved issues and traumas within us and members of previous generations lead to unconscious entanglement between us. This severely disables our functioning in families, loving relationships and other essential areas of our lives. It tends to show up in our lives as patterns of dysfunctional behaviour, chronic illness, unexplainable emotional or physical suffering and inability to find peace. The process can reveal new, often profoundly moving insights, which can initiate deep changes. We can finally reconcile within ourselves, what appeared until now impossible to reconcile: persistent inner and outer conflicts, old life-negating beliefs and unconscious and destructive patterns. We can gain access to previously inaccessible personal resources, resolutions, life-supporting rather than life-destructing ways to be with self and others and ultimately find deep and lasting peace within.

| Where: | Centre for Sustainable Living | |

| Wild Earth Wild Heart Wild Mind: Nourishing ecological connection | ||
A weekend with John Seed, author, musician and film-maker, long term rainforest activist and, with Joanna Macy, creator of the Council of All Beings (www.rainforestinfo.org.au) Human identity exists at intersection with the ancient cycles of air, water and soil. Without this there is no self, there is no separation between nature and ourselves. By acknowledging our interconnectedness with the elements we invite the spontaneous healing of psyche. Arne Naess, Emeritus Professor Philosophy at Oslo University, who coined the term 'deep ecology', said that 'ecological ideas are not enough; we need ecological identity, ecological self'. He suggested this be brought about through community therapies 'healing our relations to the widest community, that of all living beings'. In this workshop we participate in a series of processes and rituals informed by those used by indigenous peoples throughout time. Using personal sharing, experiential deep ecology and creative exercises, we will dissolve the separation between persons and the planet. Vision and empowerment arise naturally from realigning ourselves with the living earth.
